Amy and Chris – West Sussex Wedding Photography

Last Saturday (16th July 2011) I was in West Sussex to photograph the wedding of Amy and Chris.  Amy and Chris came to me after seeing my images from a previous wedding and liked my style.

The day started off for me in a very wet Bognor Regis capturing Amy and her bridal party getting ready. I then headed off to meet Chris at the church of St Mary’s in Climping. I was also very fortunate to have Kevin Brown working with me on the day, Kevin truly is a fantastic photographer based in Woking.

So here are some of the images from the day.

Romance of a Wet Wedding Day

WetWeddingDays Romance of a Wet Wedding Day

Wet Weddings in the UK

Finally, after much debate and discussion over the coffee table, your wedding date is fixed and you are super excited about getting dolled up for your happiest day! Before you get too excited, however, have you cross-checked the weather forecast for the day? Will it be sunny? Or is it going to be a wet day? The weather can be fickle in London and surrounding areas, especially during summers, when it can rain cats and dogs on some really wet days. So, it makes sense to be prepared for a wet wedding day if the forecast predicts so.
If you always wanted the Sun to shine and shower its blessings on your momentous day, don’t fret over a wet wedding day ‘coz the romance of wedding on a rainy day can be equally memorable, if not more. When you have all the contingency plans for a wet wedding in place, rest assured that you won’t just have a romantic wedding, but romance will be in the air too!

It’s in such challenging situations where the true skills and mettle of a wedding photographer come to the fore. Your wedding photographer should be sufficiently trained and equipped to tackle all the exigencies that could be anticipated on a wedding day. For instance, familiarity with the venue plays a vital role in such situations. An experienced UK wedding photographer will know the alternative indoor location, which will be ideal for different set of shoots; thus, saving you from last minute embarrassment of trying to locate alternate sheltered locations.

Your photographer should be qualified enough to know how to preserve his equipment from damage in the rains  Though the modern photographic equipment does not break down on minor wetting, yet the wedding photographer must take ample precautions to prevent potential damage, lest it runs
the risk of having a wedding without any photographic memories.

A professional wedding photographer in the UK will always have at least two spare chic umbrellas in his car for groom and the bride, in case it rains on the wedding day. However, this doesn’t mean that you can simply rely on those two umbrellas to sail through the event. Remember, not all guests will be carrying their umbrellas to the venue.

So, the first thing to do is to arrange for plenty of spare umbrellas that can be placed in a bucket outside the door of the venue, or you can utilise the services of ushers to facilitate easy supply of umbrellas to any guest in need. While selecting the umbrellas, make sure that they complement the overall colour scheme of your wedding venue.
After catering for the guests, it’s your turn to prepare well for a wet wedding day. Start with buying a big umbrella to walk from the car to the venue. A complementing large umbrella will not just prevent your make-up and dress; it’ll also enhance the look and feel of the photographs. Shoes and footwear is another casualty when it pelts hard from the sky. It won’t be a bad idea to wear trainers to walk from the car to the venue, and then changing to your formal footwear.
A wet wedding day is an opportunity to welcome the rain as your guest from heaven who is especially there to bless you with all its watery pearls!

Why not get in contact to discuss your wedding day plans with an all weather experienced wedding photographer.

The Royal Institution of Great Britain – Wedding Photography

The Royal Institution of Great Britain

Wedding Photography at The Royal Institution of Great Britain

Although an unlikely wedding venue, The Royal Institution of Great Britain is one of the longest surviving legacies of the rich English heritage. Located on Albemarle Street in Mayfair, London and founded in 1799 by some of the well known names in the scientific circles, like Henry Cavendish and George Finch, The Royal Institution is an independent charitable organisation dedicated to spread scientific education and research.
Some of the better known names associated with the Institution include Michael Faraday, Sir Thomas Bernard, Sir Benjamin Thompson, Sir Humphrey Davy, James Dewar, George Porter, Sir Lawrence Bragg, John Kendrew, and many more. A total of 14 scientists attached with the Institution have been bestowed with the prestigious Nobel Prize in different categories.
Introduced by Michael Faraday in 1825, the annual Royal Institution Christmas Lectures form the basis of Institution’s work towards dissemination of scientific knowledge, education and research among the masses. These lectures are broadcast UK-wide through television every Christmas.

The three-storied museum is another highlight of The Royal Institution, which houses the scientific models and displays dating back to 1799. Besides, there is a theme-based restaurant, appropriately titled ‘Time & Space’, which offers contemporary British menu and serves as a purists’delight with traditional afternoon tea and a classic bar menu to lift their sagging spirits.

The Royal Institution As a Wedding Venue

The Royal Institute’s rooms are licensed for weddings, civil ceremonies, and partnerships, which makes it a one-stop-shop for wedding and reception ceremonies. The staff at the Institution is extremely friendly, courteous, and well-behaved. Moreover, they assist and coordinate with you throughout to make the entire event a smooth and enjoyable affair. With in-house audio-visual support and professional event catering on offer, The Royal Institution is an obvious hit among the prospective grooms and brides as their ideal wedding venue.
Your Royal Institution of Great Britain wedding can be made even more memorable if you hire the services of a experienced London wedding photographer, who has an eye for details and understand the historical significance of the venue to bring about the finer aspects of the different locales within the Royal Institution.

Nikki and Chris – Wotton House Surrey Wedding Photography

On Friday 8th July I photographed Nikki and Chris’ wedding at the amazing Wotton House in Dorking, Surrey. The weather on the day was, well a bit temperamental but that didn’t seem to dampen the spirits of the couple or their guests. For a wedding photographer a wet wedding day really does make you think outside of the box. I love them.

I just wanted to pass on my congratulations and say thank you for allowing me to be apart of your big day and it was a real pleasure to photograph your wedding.

Wotton House, Surrey Wedding Photography

Nikki and Chris 3 of 67 Wotton House, Surrey Wedding Photography

The Dorking town in Surrey plays host to one of the most stunning country houses ideal for organising weddings, meetings, and practically any event worth celebrating. The Wotton House Venue is built amidst sprawling 20 acres of breathtaking landscape (within the 300 acre Wotton Estate) studded with well manicured gardens and green areas.

The history of Wotton House of Dorking dates back to the 17th Century when it was occupied by the family of landscape designer, collector, botanist, and diarist, John Evelyn, who inherited the House from his grandfather George Evelyn, who, in turn, bought the House from its original owner, Henry Owen, in 1579. John Evelyn preserved the beautifully laid gardens that were adorned with an artificially terraced mount, a fountain, an evergreen grove, a temple, and a parterre garden. However, the subsequent inheritance of the House rendered the gardens vulnerable as they were consistently altered. The current owners of the Wotton House, Principal Hayley Group, too have modified the gardens to blend traditionalism with modernity and give the House a refurbished look.

Wotton House is easily accessible from Gatwick Airport, Heathrow Airport and Guildford, which makes it perfect for hosting a countryside party or enjoying a relaxed weekend with your family and friends. It has been renovated and transformed into a premiere conference and training venue, which can also cater to a big wedding party. With 40 meeting rooms equipped with modern audio-visual gadgetry, Wotton House Venue can cater up to 200 delegates.

The hotel is equipped with 111 guestrooms, which embody the luxury and comfort that is hard to match. The guest rooms vary from double to single and twin rooms that are fully equipped with ultra-modern facilities like Wi-Fi, TV, trouser press and iron, dry cleaning service among many others. The Tempus restaurant offers sumptuous lunch and dinner from different menus.

For leisure seekers, Wotton House is equipped with a heated indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, Whirlpool, outdoor tennis courts, jogging trails, and sauna and steam room.

Wotton House As A Perfect Wedding Venue

Its natural settings separate Wotton House from its competitors when it comes to hosting a wedding party. You will be provided with a dedicated coordinator to help you throughout the party. The customer service of Wotton House is renowned to give a pleasurable time for the hosts and the guests.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that Wotton House remains a hot wedding destination throughout the year. You’ll do well to make your reservations well in advance in order to avoid last minute disappointments.

In order to ensure your Wotton House wedding is etched in your memory forever, an experienced Surrey wedding photographer is a MUST HAVE. While searching for an ideal Surrey wedding photographer, make sure that he or she has captured the Wotton House on an earlier occasion. Because of its massive geographical boundary, the wedding photographer must understand and have knowledge about different nooks and corners of the Wotton House, especially those that can offer splendid backdrop for wedding images.

I have experience photographing wedding at Wotton House and would love to photograph your Surrey wedding.
