Wedding Photography at High Rocks | Helen and John – There we are, myself, my assistant (Ernie), Helen and John perched on top of one of the Rocks at the awesome High Rocks in Kent, just as the sun was setting, when Helen tells me why she booked me. She said that they wanted someone that was going to offer them a fun experience, not just your average wedding photography. This was such a nice thing to hear, it almost made me forget the sheer drops either side of where I was standing…. almost, bit not quite.
As wedding couples go, Helen and John we’re pretty much perfect… they were up for anything, had no fear of heights, looked great together and a good laugh. John would occasionally come out with the odd joke….some of which were actually quite funny too…
I know High Rocks well, after photographing a number of weddings there and I knew the time to be up on those Rocks was just before sunset. The light levels are low but the quality of the light is simply amazing at this time. What’s great is having the opportunity to shoot using just the natural light and then be able to create something far more dramatic by introducing flash. These are totally different styles of wedding photography…. both dramatic and beautiful in their own way, but also so very different.
Below is a handful of my favourite images from Helen and John’s wedding at High Rocks. I hope you like them. A massive thanks to Helen and John for asking me to shoot their wedding.
